Enjoying going through your course Phoebe and surprised at how many things in it I had discovered on my own years ago when, after a big accident, had to look at a safer way and recovering my confidence took me to researching and trying things to get amazing results. Like you say they just want to please if they know how. I've been able to hop on any of my horses that haven't been ridden for 6/12 months bareback without any lungeing etc. I'm still learning and discovering things every day, 54 now.  Sounds like we have gone down a similar path of discovery...

Thank you. Sonya

LOVE all your modules! And I love all the encouragement, at the last place I was riding I got told to not stop and pat the horse for doing a great turn when turning on the forehand because it breaks the momentum! I still did though haha. Looking forward to more of the courses :)

Thanks Phoebe, love the course! It's taken some time to remember and grasp the concept although it is simple and natural and right, it's getting rid of the old habits that take the time. But everything that you've said to do has worked on my horse and we are both building lots more confidence.  He's also showing a lot more personality too which is nice ...
Thanks for a great course.

Hello Phoebe!
Strawbs has been so sweet and really cute lately. So cuddly and she loves to rest her head on your shoulder or try and nibble my hair! She is so smart she has learnt all her exercises off by heart so when she sees a carrot she will straight away bend her head around to her shoulder it's so cute. Also with a point to her shoulder she will do it automatically! I love her to bits 🥰😍
She has got so much more calm and it feels like our connection is getting better. She also knows our car so anytime we drive up the driveway she will come trotting over with her ears forward and a little whinny!! So cuteeee!
She's getting so much love, and I couldn't be more happy
Thank you again 💋💖
These are some photos of her yesterday.

Hi Phoebe
Thought I would give you an update on Cajun. What an absolute sweetheart. Like other posts I have read she was even more beautiful in real life than the photos. She made my other boy look like a brumby because she is so regal looking!! She has settled in so well, is such a gentle giant and so sweet and well behaved. I do all of her brushing etc with no halters or leads and she just stands there. If she goes to move I just say “whoa” and she stops. She does lift her leg up when she loves what she is eating like you said and it is very endearing. My first couple of rides had to be bareback because I only had 1 girth and she is huge and it didn’t fit and I had to order one to fit her haha. Even bareback she was a complete angel. She had bonded so well with Spirit her paddock companion that I was concerned about riding her as I thought they would be an issue but she just concentrates on the ride and me. Everyone that has met her loves her and comments on how sweet and gentle she is. Thank you xx

Hello Phoebe!
I am so sorry we haven't given you an update on Strawberries in a long time. She has been going really well and she's come such a long way since her accident. I got on her bareback the other day and she didn't put a foot wrong. I haven't been able to ride her in full gear yet, but hopefully really soon. We have been going on walkies together in her paddock checking out the other horses and I have been really working on talking to her all the time (normally about nonsense;)). She is sooo clever and I can't wait to work with her. I am hoping to work on dressage and jumping with her because she has shown amazing potential. Everyone that has met her have said amazing things about her and also how pretty she is. She is looking really good and shiny still. She has the most beautiful paddock now with a friend and she is enjoying that as well. She has been a complete different horse since she got where she is now. And just been really happy and she's always got her ears forward. (Apart from feed time) 😂
Can't wait to show you some videos of us together riding really soon!

I haven’t updated you in a bit but SanDomingo is doing great I love him to bits and can’t help falling more and more in love with him everyday. I take weekly lessons with my instructor who says me and SanDi have a real awsome bond and we fit with eachother💞SanDomingo is so fun to ride and I can’t help but feel as though he tries to protect me and look after me. I finish every ride with 2 tricks which is a hug and a kiss or one or the other and he’s gotten to the point where he tries to kiss or hug me even when I don’t ask 😂 it’s a bit cute. Here’s some pics of him enjoying his big green paddock ft his cute little snip😉

...Thnx again for such a gorgeous horse with a even more gorgeous personality💓💞🦄

Omg phoebes I just had the BEST morning with my boy!!!!!!!! So I went to the paddock at 7:30 to groom and wash him and it was all going good just a normal morning then one of the owners horses got out and came up to us (stood behind Valentino when he was eating!) I was panicking inside but I tried to stay cool for Valentino. I have NEVER seen Valentino let another horse come within 10 meters of him when he's eating so I was sure that I was in a bit of a situation but I just kept saying wooh boy and patting his face and he had his ears back but he didn't even so much as nip at this horse!!!!!! But I didn't want to push it because the other horse started going for his food so I untied Valentino and just walked him away and this horse followed us 😫 so I walked Valentino back up to his food and the other horse took off down the driveway so I left Valentino with his food and had to go catch this other horse before it hurt itself on the cattle grid at the end of the driveway!! Just got to it in time and brought it back up and then all his other horses came out of the gate!!!!!! They all went over to valentino and I was like to myself here we bloody go I'm going to be in the middle of a horse fight with like 5 horses......! But Valentino ended up sharing! Yes sharing!!! So I was already so happy that he was being such a kind boy to the others, I got all the horses back into their paddock and let v finish his breakfast then walked him back to his paddock and gave him cuddles then started walking but up the driveway and he was following me so I started jogging and all of a sudden he's gone into race mode and starting galloping!! He won the race 😂 so I raced him the other way and he did it again!! And won! Again 😂 then I was like righto mate I have to go to work! So he started galloping around the paddock bucking and kicking and rearing and flying around! Then he came galloping back up to front of the paddock where the grass is a bit slippery because of the rain last week. He tried to come to a halt but ended up sliding for about 2 meters 😂😂😂😂he looked at me like "don't laugh Mum I meant to do that" it was soooooo funny 😂💙💙💙💙💙 he's such a character! Love him to bits!

Yes this is Teeto (aka Felix)
Exquisite in mind body and OMG movement, wow!!!
The beautiful and shell shocked girl is my daughter
I, we spent most of yesterday in tears and shock
You see this horse is , special .
He has a very special job now .
The beautiful young girl in the post is barely holding on , to herself and her own existence . For the past several months what has kept her here is the idea of this horse
My daughter has suffered an horrific series of events which , has left her broken inside
Her allowances and the twisting of her mind by perpetrators has resulted in a self hatred that no person thus far has been able to enter and reach
As a single parent , dealing with police , child protection Interpol counsellors etc etc to no avail
Where do you go ??? They leave , your left in between the cracks of government statistics and watching your child slowly drown from the inside out ,praying that she's still breathing in the morning , that she's not hurting herself when your not around
Then one day you realise you have one thing left in your toolbox that you know from personal experience can help
HORSES
But I did that when she was younger and it didn't turn out right , the personality mix and her fear base was a backward step at the time but, that was Shetland, I thought ,what she needs is a proper horse !
So in my search for guidance ,I lucked upon Phoebe
I read everything I could both for and against but you know what , The for was so overwhelming and my gut kept coming back to her website , the way you talk about horses and your ideals are exactly what we needed , it was the nature of the horse I was looking for , the nurture of that nature is up to us
To purchase a horse sight unseen is frightening ,but really ,again it's the nature you are buying ,so the sight is secondary.
To have been presented with such an exquisite specimen , I see the inside is reflected outwards
To wake up this morning and have my daughter race out of bed ,get ready with a smile on her dial ,beam all the way to school and enter the gates with her shoulders back ,head up and an internal shine, that radiated happiness from the inside, was a sight to behold and a looooong time overdue
You did that phoebe 😘
I know we have a long road ahead of us
I too spoke to Teeto about his new job and your right he sooo friggin understood what I was saying
He pranced around for about a half hour yesterday on arrival with his black eyes, it was rainy and cold and windy , but you know what within 40min , he was cool calm and we jumped in there and rugged him freestyle and he didn't even blink , even though the wind was blowing the rug everywhere !
Thank you will never be enough phoebe
We will keep you posted constantly in our progress
We are pedantically following your settling in process
To anybody considering purchasing through Freedom Equine
DEFINATELY 🤗🌈🐎
Blessings to you have an AWESOME day

Phoebe, what you’ve taught me about horses I can never thank you enough for. The relationship I have with my little herd now is like nothing I have ever experienced before with any other horse. I can’t describe the feeling when my horses “choose” me everyday. It doesn’t matter what they’re doing, when Mum shows up, they know it’s all love and good fun. And so they come willingly and happily to put their heads in their halters or just for a scratch and a chat. I listen to and respect them, so naturally they show me the same courtesy. You taught me that. ❤️

Do you remember when I emailed you about Princess asking if she'd be a good fit for my total newbie husband and kids? I had a laundry list of demands! You told me P was an ideal candidate. You've been proven right more times than I can tell you. Adam can handle her like he's the man from snowy river Phoebes 😁

P will literally hold her head at the right angle for him to halter her. if he gets something wrong she does this face like "silly dad, here let me help you." So patient with everyone and a friend to all. She is exactly what you told me she would be. Nothing you can't ask (nicely) of that girl that she won't do. She's just GOLD!!

I know you're very busy so don't stress about reading this I just wanted to say how much I appreciate this knowledge and in sight. It seems so obvious and yet is not used nearly as much as it should be. I'm at a riding school that since learning from you, I have come to realize is a typical run of the mill riding school running their horses like machines. Since study I have noticed their incorrect feeding and how frightened these horses are. Broken spirits is what comes to mind. And running when being fetched. I hope to help make even a small difference there with my new and growing knowledge.

Thanks again :)

Hi Phoebe, I’m so slack on updateing you I feel so bad. I’ve been busy with school work and when I’m not busy with school work I’m playing or riding SanDi and my other horse. SanDi is doing very good he is so Cuddly sometimes he will come over and nudge me for a cuddle and then he will place his head in my arms and I can just stand there for ever with my head on his he’s so cute... I have led him over jumps and he gets so proud of himself when he clears it then he will turn and look at me seeking for approval and I will tell him “good boy” “aren’t you a clever boy”and give him a massive hug. Yesterday I rode him bareback and he listened to me non stop I had his undivided attention. I decided I would try and stop him by using my body language (no rein) by sitting deep and putting my legs further forward and keeping my heels down and he stopped immediately. I put together a video of our time together so far I hope u like it 😊

Oh my god phoebes Val is doing so well! I'm sorry I haven't updated you in a while! We are going so well with the settling program! It's gotten to the point where he looks at me like "come on let's go for a ride!" It's so cute! He's got that much patience for me you wouldn't think he was only 5! I got on him bareback this arvo and we just went for a little walk around the yard 🙂 he was so good he just walked around so calm letting me lay on him and cuddle him! We do so much together and I feel like our bond gets stronger and stronger every time I'm with him 💙💙💙Tameka's little girls sat on him this afternoon and I didn't even have to hold him he just stood there eating grass and being such a good boy! After our lovely afternoon I gave him a carrot lollypop! (A carrot dipped in molasses) The whole time he was eating it I kept saying to him "Your other mummy phoebe would be so cranky at me if she knew I was giving you so much sugar" 😂 I can't believe I've got such a good boy I love him so much! Thank you so much phoebes!

Now Phoebe I have a bone to pick with you...
You simply must stop finding us these wonderful horses before we end up with a full herd of them!

Princess, as you know, settled in immediately. She is kind hearted, gentle and loves a good cuddle and a schmacking kiss right on her face. Never in all my years of knowing horses of a wide variety, have I met one so calm, so confident, so exactly as described by you.

We did buy her for our daughter, who made an instant ♥️ connection. However my husband (the horse newbie) has taken a real shine to our easy going, unflappably quiet girl. And it’s mutual 😍

Princess doesn’t just have a beautiful temperament. She is smart as the day is long my friend.

My crew live in a paddock just outside our windows. We can see them from most parts of the house. Husband is in sales and talks on the phone, in rapid, unintelligible work speak, near constantly 🙄
I’m currently in a knee brace so he gladly volunteered to fill the hay nets for our little herd. Good man, that one is.

Just in case there was any trouble. Like for example the ponies ganging up on an obvious rookie, I watched keenly through the glass. Picture James Stewart in Rear Window 👀🧐🔭

Hubby is yakking his head off on the phone but Princess thinks he’s talking to her. I watch her ears swiveling around and her face change expression by the millisecond as she tries earnestly to decipher his version of an utterly butchered English language. I was near pissing myself imagining the horse conversations happening parallel to his work call.

Spud doesn’t care about anyone but Spud. Cosmo is deathly afraid of strong wind. Seeing it through his eyes there are apparently demonic bogeymen in each gust. 😈 He was of no assistance either.
In his defense, several large tree branches have come down in storms so he probably has valid reason to be scared of the wind 💨 😱😂
So then it was up to Our Princess to attempt a human to horse translation from this clearly raving madman.
As she looked keenly from this frantically speaking, loud mouthed human to her equine buddies, I was doubled over in hysterics. As much as one can be wearing a knee brace anyway...

By the time he was done with the hay, Princess had seemingly achieved the impossible. Correctly understood my husbands “work speak.” Something I am still incapable of after many long years together. Smart girl she is 😊

Though there was one point where I swear she turned to Adam and said “wait, was that sales pitch or sales meeting?!” Like Mister Ed to Wilbur.
Neither Spud nor Cosmo gave a tiny rats ass what he was saying. But Princess is so into her people, she thinks we are always talking to her regardless so she ALWAYS listens. Just in case.

We love her to bits. She is simply perfect.

Thank you Phoebe. ♥️

Hey Phoebes and Des! Just another update on my big boofhead Valentino! 💙 he’s healthy and putting on a lot of weight! I had the vet come out and meet him and just check him out and she fell Inlove with him! Who couldn’t fall Inlove with him! He’s perfect! I have been taking him for walks almost every day this week and he’s just so curious and cute he just wants to keep walking! People give us strange looks like “you know you’re walking a horse not a dog right?” 😂 he’s so good and so well behaved, I have never seen a horse be so calm when cars and trucks drive past! It’s only a 50 area but still he just doesn’t have a care in the world when we go for walks! He is honestly my best buddy and nothing makes me happier than getting to his paddock and seeing him canter up to me with his big rocking horse canter! He stops just in front of me and then puts his head and neck down for a scratch! He’s so beautiful and I just love coming home to him ❤️

Oh Phoebe, I knew you wouldn’t disappoint!
Princess arrived today, and Cosmo is in heaven. They bonded immediately and Cosmo even stepped aside to give Princess the best hay access. THAT NEVER HAPPENS!! 😂

It took only a few hours for her to assess me and decide I’m worth her time. We have had cuddles already that she initiated. So affectionate. She’s an absolute delight. Happy for me to rug her up for the cold Melbourne nights and is now enjoying her dinner with her best new friend. Princess has met the extended family. That being our chicken flock and three big goofy dogs. All have got along famously and Princess has been welcomed into our menagerie with loving arms.

Thank you once again. You are a huge asset to the horse community and for the second time have given us our perfect horse. So much love for what you do and what you stand for.

KAITLYN & SAN DOMINGO:

Hi Pheobe, I thought I would update u on SanDomingo aka Sandi since it’s felt like forever since I last updated you. He’s doing great I taught him hugs which is super cute cause he puts his neck around my waist and then rubs my back with his head. I was gonna teach him kisses but somehow he already kinda knows how. He’s full of character he stand behind me whilst I make up his food and sometimes pulls the bucket out from underneath me. But he’s such a goofball sometimes he sneezes and he gives himself a fright and then does this hop skip and a jump 😂He is everything we asked for and you told us he would be. He is magnificent. I love him to the moon and back. Thank you both so very much xx😊💙

RBEI REVIEW

 BRONTE MCGREGOR

Where do I even start. Phoebe and Des are amazing people and have gone above and beyond to make sure I get the most perfect horse to suit me!

Phoebe sent me a list of horses available at the time and suggested that one of them would suit me especially well!

From then on Phoebe and Des were so supportive in helping me get ready for my boy Valentino to arrive!

I have been non stop asking questions about feed, gear, riding and more!

Phoebe has been so so helpful and answered ALL of my questions and even saved me money by telling me that some things I was going to get were a waste of money and not necessary.

Des has been awesome! He has been sending me statements and invoices letting me know where I am up to and have sorted out a payment plan for my beautiful boy!

I am so so so excited to meet my boy in 5 days and I have no doubt that Phoebe will help me through the settling in process and with any future help I may need!

I cannot recommend RBEI enough! I will not be buying horses from anywhere else!

I am grateful beyond words for everything they have done for me!

Thank you Phoebe and Des!!!!!!!
xxxxxx Bronte

JORDI

Cosmo is a beautiful soul. Our favorite thing to do is chill in the paddock together. I pull out the best bits of hay from the net to hand feed him. I sing silly songs I make up as I scratch all the bits (like inside his ears?! He’s a weirdo!) that he offers up to my nails. When he’s in a really good mood, I get snuffly kisses on my head and cuddles when he rests his head on me, and I rest mine on his. Sometimes we just stand forehead to forehead breathing together. Horse breath is my all time favorite smell...

KAITLYN

I went to feed SanDomingo and my mare Painty and they were full of mischief. my mum and I drove into the paddock on the 4x4 and they stood their like statues in front of us so we couldn’t drive anywhere! 😂 I finally asked them kindly to move out of the way he then raced us to the feed shed ( he didn’t beat my 21yr old mare with arthritis ;) he then waited for his feed at the shed whilst I was putting a rug on my mare (thank god he was distracted cause otherwise he sits there rubbing his head on me pushing me into my mare while I’m trying to put the rug on; he’s such a smoocher ) I then put the feed in front of them and then did his rug. We took a few pics of how snug they looked and then headed to the gate just as I closed the gate my mare had finished her feed and was walking towards his feed. Me waiting to see what his reaction would be stopped and stood there watching he then lifted his head and let my mare take a bite of his food, vice versa. He’s such a gentlemen😊 hehe

Here’s a video of Noah, 8 years old riding Lady. I’ve had to eat my words today, I’ve been saying for a long time that children should never be put on ex race horses but as it’s clearly shown on the video this horse is bombproof. She’s honestly never put a foot wrong.

JANET

Hi Phoebe, I have subscribed to your course...Looking forward to starting the training. Felix is going well... He had 11 weeks off over summer as we had a terrible storm with a lighting bolt striking our power transformer right in Felix's view. It shook the ground and the noise was deafening. Poor Felix was in the round yard at the time and galloped around and hit his leg on a rail so it swelled up. He wasn't lame but as it was hot weather I gave him a break. Best thing I could have done as he really filled out beautifully. After all that time off, I rode him twice and then took him to my riding club on a very windy day when all the horses were on edge. He was perfect and he had only been to riding club twice before, months ago, and it is held by the race track! He knew the track was there but was quite happy to take it easy in his new career. Every now and again he plays racehorses in his paddock by going to the most distant corner and then coming back at finishing line speed. It is both frightening and exhilarating to watch. I think he does it to just blow a few cobwebs out as most of the time he moves around at very docile walk. Even after a good gallop he is most composed. I can almost hear him saying 'ahh that feels better!
He is a gem and very much loved
Janet

Hi Phoebe, update on my beautiful girl Daisy. I think I have lost her to my Sons friend. He loves her and Daisy had just bonded to him. Here are a couple of videos from the weekend. Dalton is 10 years old riding Daisy. She is very much loved.

...He is always patting and praising her. I read all the emails that were sent to me after i got her and did it all in order as said. With life so busy, i had forgotten to just pat, talk and just be with my horses. I did this with Daisy and remembered how i used to be as a child with my horse. I have constantly told Dalton to pat her and praise her. He is a kind animal loving boy so it was natural for him to do that anyway. He just loves her and she has just bonded with him. Daisy gave me my confidence back. As i have constantly rubbed her head when i greeted her, she has now started to rub my hand. The first thing i do when i greet her is put my hand on her head between her eyes and she rubs her head up and down my hand now. She makes me laugh as its as though she is patting me lol. Thankyou for this beautiful girl xx

We get so caught up on life, we forget. I am so enjoying my horses. They love the forestry. We stop and let them have a pick. I also let them out of their paddocks into the house yard to eat. Daisy loves that and waits at the gate to be let out but she is smart. As soon as it is starting to get dark and I make up their feeds, I open gates and she puts herself back away and waits for dinner. Dalton rode her up to his place last weekend and did the jumping. He was very excited. You don't have to worry about Daisy now. She is loved by everyone who meets her. Better go. So happy I have made your day. Have a great night x

Genie is going so well. Nothing fazes her!

She keeps our Quarter horse, Whisky so calm. We've had neighbours a couple doors down take up motor cross in their paddock (*sigh*) and Whisky seems to hate dirt bikes.

Usually he'd he running around like a loonie trying to escape but Genie goes around munching the grass so he takes her lead and either stands there quiet or goes back to grazing.

UPDATE ON RICHIE & CAROLYN: 18 / 04 / 2018:
CAROLYN WROTE: "Hi Phoebe

May I please use Richie’s purchase to complete this course.

I am so excited.....

I will update you about my beautiful amazing Richie soon.... he is adorable funny gentle very intelligent and the most amazing horse to handle & ride etc .....
OMG .... and that movement!!!! 😁🐎

Hence I am so excited about this course.

I have never known of horses so well prepared and trained and genuinely calm and relaxed as yours ...... I can’t get enough of your training methods and respect for these amazing animals .... that align with my beliefs and how I have treated and respected my horses & actually all my animals ( dogs & cats also 😊)

Looking forward to commencing it .....
And also lessons and ongoing connection with you.

...I will send you some more pics soon...

He is looking fantastic , nice coating & looking chunky & handsome .... xxx
( yes he does get the best of everything , his rugs washed weekly... etc etc etc) .... and he knows he is loved .... we are like peas in a pod 😂🐎

I just love this big boy ❤️... and can’t wait to see him every morning & night.... the girls at the paddock laugh .... as they give him a pat and hug as they past, which he loves, but all he does is look past them for me & calls out as soon as he sees me & then ignores them..... 😂

The other day I let him & Danny out of their paddocks for a walk around the property whilst I cleaned out there paddocks ...... they had a lovely time .... a pick & play & run ( yes fast) then he sauntered all the way back & into the paddock & gave me a sniff & lick & stood with me for a while then sauntered back off again to play & relax again.... sooo sweet !!! ❤️

He hates a dirty paddock & points at the poop with his nose & then points with his foot for me to clean it up ..... as if “dirty sod ...how darn disgusting... how come you haven’t cleaned that up yet?” !!!😂😂😂 bloody hilarious!

Speak soon xxx😁

She has been very compliant so far, only rode her this avo for about 1 hour, as quite hot.

Hi Phoebe,

It’s Melissa, Genie’s new owner. Just thought I’d say hi & give you a little update on her since I haven’t got round to it yet but have been meaning too.

This ad for Paris has reminded me & I’ve got time now so why not, right? Haha.

Looking at Paris, it reminds me of when I 1st saw the ad for Genie (is this her long lost sister haha).

Genie is doing really well, we (my partner Adam) and I have been riding her. He’s a beginner & she’s been SO patient with him.

We’ve followed your settling in program and it’s been really helpful, thank you.

Genie is best mates with our Quarter horse, Whisky, which is great because he’s been wanting a friend for a while. The mini we got given didn’t do the trick unfortunately.

Here’s a couple recent photos of her...

Ω Hoof Prints On My Heart Ω
PART ONE
Written by Michelle Binstead, 28 / 11 / 2017

Hi.....my name is Michelle. I’m a mum, a step-mum, and a grandparent...I love animals, and I am a horse fanatic....maybe I suffer from OCHD.....Obsessive Compulsive Horse Disorder ;) I guess only my family could answer that for you (or my activities on Facebook).

I tend to be a bit of an introvert and stress if I’m around too many people (unless they are family, and I have a BIG family). I panic about pleasing people and get anxious if I feel I haven’t. I get angry at myself and despise myself if I think I have failed someone and upset them.

I put others before myself to the point I feel so exhausted and physically drained. I care, I hurt, I cry and I love ... too much – my entire life I have been a very sensitive, emotional and vulnerable person.

I suffer from performance anxiety – yes, even if I know something 100% or can do something perfectly fine – I will panic, make mistakes and mess up if someone is watching. I get physically sick sometimes, with worry even when there is nothing to worry about.

And then at times my head feels as though it will literally explode from the pain of so much going on in there. I try to file everything in there, away in little boxes and get my brain organised but it doesn’t work.

That is just a snippet of the person I am. I want to tell you what keeps me sane...my horses. Don’t get me wrong, my family are my world but my horses are my relief.

After a number of years without horses due to unforeseen circumstances, came the purchase of a pony that I loved but he was totally not suited to me.

He needed more than I could offer him so to be kind to him he went to live with a new family where he is doing what he loves. When he left, my heart broke once again and I almost gave up on the idea of ever having another horse.

Then I found an advert ... and my new journey began.

Ω Ω Ω Ω

After a few phone calls and messages over a number of months, Calimero (Johnnydrama), now known as Beau, arrived here on 16th September 2016. Big, black and beautiful! Approximately 16hh next to 5’1” me! He looked so big, so tall, and he had no idea where he was.

My first reaction was “OMG what have I done?! Since when does anyone buy a horse they haven’t seen or ridden?!

Well woman, obviously now! And a Thoroughbred, an ex-racehorse at that? You have lost the plot!” But I looked in those big soft dark eyes and my heart began to melt,

I started to relax and so did he. He was worried and didn’t know where he was. He didn’t know me. So the trust and relationship building had to start.

Beau was placed in his yard and left to settle after I showed him where his water was and gave him his hay. He wandered around, looking lost and bewildered, which made me think how I would feel if I was him …. loaded on a truck, taken from the home he knew, his paddock mates, his family and his routine!!

After a while I went back in and sat in the middle of the yard to watch him silently. Whenever he came up to me I stroked his face gently while telling him he was ok, everything would be fine.

I only spoke when he came for reassurance then sat quietly while he looked around some more. Every once in a while, he would call out for his mates but only strange horses replied. Each time I left the yard I made sure he saw where I went.

For a week we spent time together, quietly to start with, then lots of gentle conversation, and when he was ready lots of cuddles, pats and affection – no grooming, no making him stand to be attended to, no work.

Towards the end of the week we started going for walks around the 10acre paddock now he could see the neighbouring horses closer and also talk to them easier. He chose to stay with me.
Our relationship was off to a good start.

Ω Ω Ω Ω

Beau and I had met, become acquainted and were now becoming friends …… the beginning of our life together.
Once I felt he trusted me, out came the brushes and hoof pick and I soon discovered his weakness. Beau LOVES to be groomed.

Oh, the faces he pulled (and still does to this day) when you get “that spot right there”. As far as cleaning his hooves were concerned all I had to do was touch a leg and the hoof was presented, then by the time you moved to the next leg he had it up and waiting for that hoof to be cleaned out.

Then came the downside!! Why did there have to be a downside to this beautiful horse? Why did he have to have this bad habit?

Picture this, I am about 5’1” (155cm) and Beau is about 16hh, my face is level with his butt! From the first day I groomed him, through to this day, when I brush his tail I cop it, full force fair in the face, the whole blast of a f**t.

It might be as soon as I start brushing his tail, mid-way through, or just when I am finishing and thinking he’s not going to do it, but he does it when you least expect it. There is NO escaping the f**ting Beau lol.

I know this sounds like a long and slow process, almost procrastinating, but we got to know each other doing things slow like this.

I was able to watch how he moved around, how he reacted and responded to different sights and smells. I was able to learn things about him that no-one else could tell me.

So too, was he able to learn how I went about things, how I moved around him, how I groomed him and scratched him on “that spot right there”, the sound of my voice, the way I treated him. He learned I wasn’t going to hurt him.

He learned when it was feed time, when I would go to work and when I came home, to the point of being at the gate to greet me when I drove in.

If we hadn’t done this he wouldn’t have known what I wanted, what I expect and how I acted.

Sure, there’s plenty of people that buy the horse and get straight on and go for a ride but you don’t know each other so there is no real communication, no team work or relationship.

Only one of you will become the boss and the other will struggle with respect and trust.

Ω Ω Ω Ω

Our first ride was unbelievable. I saddled him up. I checked him not once, not twice, but many times over. I was excited, nervous, almost terrified to get on him but I had to settle myself before I did.

Beau however, stood calmly, patiently waiting for me to be ready to get on. That’s right!! Get on. Hmmm how do I get on? When I was younger, like 25 years younger, I could jump onto a horse this size bareback. But now the panic started to rise.

Then I remembered someone special (Phoebe) had told me she would lower the stirrup leather to get on and then shorten when she was on.

I had no choice but to do this to get on a horse I had never been on before, didn’t know if he’d stand still long enough for me to do it because no-one was here to help me.

I took a deep breath, dropped the leather, mounted, raised the leather and he stood perfectly still the whole time. All the negative emotions that had started to rise disappeared the moment my bum hit the saddle.

I asked him to walk and it felt like we had been riding together for a very long time. I knew how he was going to move and I already knew his rhythm because I had watched him. It was so exhilarating to finally be on his back.

This boy had stamped his hoof prints all over my heart.

Di:

I bought Charlotte from Phoebe Trindall-Norling when she was just 4 ( 2 years ago) & very green.

It wasn’t an easy decision to let her go to one of my younger students but seeing this wonderful post on Facebook cements my belief that I did the right thing for both Charlotte & my student .

It humbles me & inspires me seeing how Amba has committed to the work required to achieve these wonderful results on just her 2nd outing .

I’ve bought a few horses from phoebe & all of them have been as described & have all gone on to enjoying happy contented lives with loving owners !!

I am incredibly happy for Charlotte , she deserves the loving & beautiful home she now enjoys with her owner & her paddock buddy Stormy.

Santiago came to me around 18mths ago an OTT tall , athletic looking & beautiful.

Initially I fancied him for my own riding ( being Dressage) but he has sort of fallen into being one of our most popular riding school horses ! His fan club is huge 😊🐴

His introduction came about as I was running a weekend clinic 2 weeks after his arrival & one of our other school horses went conveniently lame.
One of my more experienced students suggested .. “ what about the big brown horse you got... you could use him”... my initial thought?.. sure let’s put rank beginners & nervous nellies on a 17hh TB ???
That day he proved his weight in gold .. taking 3 different gob smacked nervous riders over trot poles - not too elegantly to begin with , but he soon learned to pick up his feet !
He instantly became a favourite with everyone who rode him!
He’s one of the most uncomplicated horses to ride, with a willing & trainable temperament .... I love him to bits 💗💗💗
He’s kind & gentle & even our vision impaired student enjoys occasional lessons on him ..he responds well to everyone who rides him, from the most nervous beginner to more experienced riders ... he just wants to please his riders !!

His future is secure , he’s a definite jerker &many thanks to Phoebe for allowing me to buy him.. he’s a dream horse with a big future

...My beautiful Bardot or BB for short. She just improves every time I ride her...we are both learning so much! From fitting saddles to all the different shoes farriers can use. I never knew there were so many. We are especially getting fantastic with opening and closing gates...even though both of us can be as stubborn as each other.....well, we ARE both redheads...hee hee. She loves the cattle mustering and is a natural at it. She's so gentle, so responsive and the bond we have is amazing.

(Regarding Opie)

He is doing really well, we have had him for 2.5 weeks now and he is settling in nicely.

He is currently in a paddock on his own during the day and at 4pm i bring my other two in with him to socialize and have their dinner and a good groom.

Unfortunatley, my son has been in hospital for the past week so i have not really bonded with him as much as i would like to before riding him. I will restart the whole process with him again tomorrow.

So far, i am happy with him, he has a very lovable & comical nature, he also loves his food!!

I have taken him for lead walks around the property, had his feet trimmed, bathed him, groomed him, rugged him, had wormer paste and even managed to do some groundwork training, he was excellent with all of this!

This will continue for another 2/3 weeks before I ride. He is also having a saddle fitting on Saturday!

I have renamed him and he now responds to "Ziggy", it suits him a bit better😊"

We have recently purchased 3 horses from Phoebe and the team and each and everyone is exactly what was promised and more. Initially my 13 year old daughter was needing a confidence builder, we found that with Strawberries. He is so great that my 11 year old son who wants to develop as a show jumper found himself the perfect jumper Starsi. While we were discussing the option to purchase her, I got hooked myself and decided it's time for me to learn to ride and along came Sphinx a horse that will take its time and be patient so he became a member of our know relatively fast growing horse family. The advise we have received throughout the purchase process and even once our babies have made it to our home has been amazing. Phoebe definitely knows her horses and her experience shows through them. The horses all arrived in tip top condition. Michelle from the admin support has gone above and beyond what we could have imagined possible. My family has formed a much closer bond over the last month or so whilst we got to know our new horses and they got to learn to trust us. I highly recommend the advise the team provides and I don't believe you could go wrong. This is from one inexperienced horsey mum that has know become so in love and excited about what owning these horses has installed for us in the future. We sincerely Thank you. Yes we will keep our updates going on how we are all doing!!!

I got off to a bad start with our Sebastian through advice on this end. Now we have recovered from that and back on track he is proving to be everything Phoebe promised. Wish we were closer to your wonderful looking establishment Phoebe.
(regarding "Starlight"): If I didnt love my 2 boys so much I know where she'd be off to... BTW had Chiro to Caesar & Giovanni today, he was very impressed by them & commented how I had been sold 2 good horses 👍

Lianne Jackson

My horses and I have a bond which is really special. They don't fear me and I don't fear them. I connect with them all individually. I communicate with them as though they are people, but they are more than that. Horses can read you like you wouldn't believe. They show the same emotions as us, fear, anger, sadness, happiness. They need to be able to release these emotions same as us. Sometimes they stare at me and I can almost hear what they are thinking. They are cuddly and affectionate. They are so special. I feel this way with all my other animals too. I stopped having dressage lessons as I felt I was only doing someone elses way. I feel that you need to be taught by your horse, not another human. I do a lot better with just me and them, they have taught me so much. BUT MY SENSE OF DIRECTION IS STILL OFF HAHAHA GO LEFT, OH THE OTHER LEFT HAHAHAHA. But honestly, you look into a horses eyes and it is heart stopping, so much to tell in those beautiful spiritual eyes. Sometimes I get really emotional just sitting with them and feeling that awesome wonder of them allowing me to be with them and being in partnership with them. I LOVE THEM TO BITS. My heart bursts with love and pride. xx

Toni Bale:

Hi Phoebe,

Thank you!! This is exactly how horses should be treated. I have an OTT TB who was then trained for dressage. When I got him, he was a robot with little personality. My heart broke. I left him to be a horse, fed him, loved him, Asked nothing of him. Slowly, his personality started to shine through. Happiness became more apparent and his cheekiness started to emerge. Just the way I like it. In turn he’s been a great communicator to me, with telling me where he may hurt or what needs attention.
A friend suggested my horses are bored and need to be ‘worked’. I replied with, yeah just like they would be bored not working on 5 acres or 2000acres.
My horses are cheeky and happy. Love and trust are paramount with the bond between us. They teach us so much when we show such gentleness and kindness. It’s
completely humbling, especially when these majestic animals allow us to ride them.
Thank you.
Kind regards,
Toni

FELIX'S OWNER UPDATE

Hi Phoebe,
I was about to get in touch with you just as you had all your computer problems as I had lots to tell you about Felix.

Once it was up and running again I knew you would be flat out trying to catch up.

Also wanted to say Hi to Michelle as I have followed her and Deagans progress.

Then things got really busy on the farm. With the arrival of spring came hay season and shearing and I totally understand what working 17 hour days is like.

I am still finishing my cuppa with my evening meal at 12:45 am! We didn't get inside until gone 10:00pm this evening, usually we at get in by 9pm and have tea by 10! This evening I had to finish turning fruit that was hit by all the weekend rain into preserves. At least we didn't get the floods that were forecast.

Anyway about Felix. One morning during the winter I had put him in the round yard while he ate his breakfast. A couple of hours later I went out to turn him out in his paddock with his friend.

He was dozing on the far side of the yard so I went over to him. When I got up to him he rested his head against the front of my jacket and nickered ever so softly.

I thought he must have smelt something he liked (carrots or apples) on me but later in the day I had changed into my jods and a different jacket to ride him and when I went to catch him he did the same again. I was really touched.

A few months ago I took him with one of my ponies to my riding club. I had planned to ride him there and get level assessed as he had been going well at home although I still hadn't cantered him.

He was very nervous when we first arrived. I didn't think it would be a good idea to try to ride him so I explained about him to the level assessor.

She laughed when I told her I had brought an ex racehorse to an equestrian centre with the race track in full view for my first outing.

She says they can smell a racetrack a mile away! Her husband is a trainer and they have retrained many TBs.

Told me not to worry just bring him along about 5 times for a look and walk him around and he would be fine.

(This was what I had planned originally but as usual people made me feel I should be hurrying along).

Anyway a fortnight later I took him and the pony along again. He casually got off the float, sauntered along behind me, stuck his head in the club room door as we passed (just to check things out) and I put him in a yard next to a nice little pony mare who immediately screamed at him pulled nasty faces.

Felix, totally cool, just approached again and got the same reaction. I left him with a full haynet and water and went to get my pony off the float but checked on the way with the mares owner that she was OK with Felix next to her.

Don't worry about her was the owners response that is the worst she does. When I finally returned with the pony I found Felix had managed to pull the haynet belonging to the mare (who by the way is called Phoebe) across so he could reach it and the two of them had their heads side by side munching on HER hay.

He is a real lady charmer. Even the most stand offish mares succumb to his charm. From what I have gleaned from his racing records he wasn't gelded until he was four years old. Anyway I didn't ride him that day just took him for walks around the complex and gave him a little lunge.

He did get a little jumpy at times but on the whole, the day was just a food fest for him. I noticed after we had been out together and he knew he would come home to the same place we really seemed to get even closer.

We have been a few times now but the last couple of rallies were cancelled so I am waiting for a nice quiet mid week one where we can try a ride.

He is cantering well now on the lunge both ways and rarely disunites. I think it was just a muscle strength problem. I just lunge in a head collar, no side reins or anything, and encourage him to stretch right down and lift his back so he is free and can swing in his trot and walk.

It must be hard after racing for so long to re program the muscles. He is building up nicely over the top line now although he isn't very forward yet under saddle.

I still haven't been able to get him cantering under saddle but when my arena dries out after all the rain we will be able to work on that again.

I just want to take things slowly as so far it has all been positive progress and I don't see any sense in hurrying things and spoiling that however impatient my friends might be.

I just want him to enjoy his new career and feel comfortable.

He is a real water baby. Anytime we have heavy rain the spoon drain in his paddock fills with water and as soon as I put him out he goes straight in and splashes madly with his front legs.

It is only shallow but he has water flying everywhere. I wondered where he got such a love of water from but then read that Bindi Cheers (who trained him for a time) trains on the beach.

No wonder he loves it. He probably has really missed it.

I've also found he loves his mixed feed really wet and slops around in the "juice" in the bottom of his feeder, licking up every bit. There is never anything left.

He certainly does seem to have really settled in now and has his favourite friends in the paddock and stables ,including a chook and a cat, that moved into the stable with him to rear their young!

He is quite a chatty horse now too and often calls out if he sees me coming.

I often look on your web page just to see if you have any new training notes or news.

Loved Michelle's writing about her two horses...

Must get to bed

I feel so much better after reading this. You should make up a lovely pamphlet of it and hand it out to all new owners of your wonderful TB horses. Sebastian is a dream come true for us. Such a quick learner of new tasks and a true gentleman while doing so.

ABSOLUTELY...I have taught clients who are having problems with there horses and as you said it is the basic fundamentals that are the issues and correcting those solves the problem. The poor horses, they put up with so much and the education is awful out there. You see these people who go through horse after horse, these poor horses end up in sales or left in paddocks and I hate it!!!!
It is also so frustrating for the owners as they do not know how to solve the issues because of so much wrong information out there, they are in the dark... owner and horse suffer! Time for new kind and ethical education to become more mainstream.

Absolutely brilliant and honest post! I 100% agree . I work in the racing industry and take them to re educate and rehome. It is very easy for riders and owners to blame the horse for problems when all that needs is for them to learn good horsemanship skills, riding and horsecare.

It is humans who ruin these beauties. I am dealing with cruel intentions of an uneducated human. This poor boy deserves so much more than he has recieved in the past 12mths. In saying that, despite what we as humans have done to him, he is still such a sooky boy. I love my OTTs but height is my issue (haha im short n hes close to 17hh). I cant wait to get on this boy and get out and about. Your baby boy will get back to where you had him Phoebe...

12mths ago this fella came into my life CAESAR my beautiful best animal friend, he is so awesomely loyal to me that in time I hope to share that with you all ..... Phoebe, he really is amazn, a day never goes by that Im not thankful for him 💞

‎17 / 07 / 2017

Good morning Phoebe . I just wanted to let you know how proud I am of the boys this morning. Monty was the one lying down with Beau standing watch over him for a change. The fact that Monty actually trusts boss man Beau to stand so close when in a very vulnerable state is awesome ... but ... Monty finally let me go right up to him, in the dark with a torch, stand there scratching his head while he was still down was the best start to the day. He doesn't mind during the day but when it's dark he gets up as soon as he sees me coming so this is a BIG thing for him. So much love for these 2 horses 💖💖

FELIX'S OWNER UPDATE:

Hi Phoebe, Thanks for your reply... He was so good yesterday.

Due to heavy rain and me helping at my riding clubs comp for three days poor Felix hadn't had any work or much attention other than being stabled at night, having rugs changed, fed and a quick brush.

As soon as I brought him in for work he was so interested in everything I did.

Nosing my head and hair while I put his boots on, chewing the lunging whip while I tried to mend it, I only lunged him and.. .WOW he just stretched down and kept the most beautiful rhythm and tempo at the trot. It was lovely to watch.

...his work was just beautiful and he listened to everything I said.

When we went back to the stables and I brushed him down he was the same, nibbling the brush, giving me a scratch back when I got his itchy spots.

I felt like he was really being engaged with me and we were doing everything together, almost as if he had missed the time we normally spend doing things.

While he was tied under the stable verandah a rooster chased a hen from around the back of the stables, wings flapping, squawking and flat out straight under Felix's legs. He never moved! He is such a gem.

I'll have a chance to ride him out with friends in a couple of weeks time when they bring their horses over. I'll try to remember to get them to take some photos of Felix and I to send to you.

They have their own racehorses that have finished racing and train really kindly and gently too so we are all going to help each other.

They have found as I so often have so many instructors just have too little regard for the horses wellbeing.

I keep referring back to your notes on training, feeding etc. and the e-mails you have sent so thank you again.

Sometimes when I look back for a particular answer I read something else and get the "Oh Yeah, I'd forgotten that " experience.

FELIX'S OWNER UPDATE

Hi Phoebe,
I have finally got a chance to e-mail you after a terrible month with .... a string of things going wrong. One thing that is going right though is Felix...

One day I was cleaning the round yard when a totally non horsey friend called. I stopped and leant on the yard rails to talk to her with my back to Felix who was dozing on the other side of the yard.

Engaged in conversation I wasn't paying any attention to Felix until a nose was very gently rested on my shoulder and hot air breathed into my neck.

This brought a big aahhhh from my friend. I think is really starting to think of me as 'his' person and now after I have ridden him I am finding he is even more affectionate. I wonder if he has never had a special permanent person in his life before. I wish he could talk! I just want him to be as happy and contented as possible.

None of the saddles I had fitted him properly and after having a little ride in the round yard in a couple of them I had to start looking for a saddle for him.

Anyway finally got one and I have now ridden him half a dozen times. It took me a couple of rides to even be able to rise to the trot on him as his stride was so long after the ponies. It was like learning to ride all over again.

I was scared if he shot forward or something I would be out of the saddle. He was really good though and now we ride out on the arena and today I rode him down the lane to let the chooks out.

Only walking and trotting at this stage and working on getting him straight and reaching into the bit and me sitting stiller and more securely in the saddle...

I really love him and I don't think I have thanked you yet for finding me such a lovely friend. So if I haven't, thank you now from the bottom of my heart.

I am just frightened the dream might disappear! He seems too good to be true. The friend who encouraged me to buy him knows the disappointments I have had with other horses and laughed when I told her I didn't dare keep saying how good he was in case I put a moz on him and my dreams.

You wouldn't believe in the first week of owning him how negatively some people reacted to me having bought a horse sight unseen and for only $3000!

I couldn't possibly have bought anything any good for that much money, certainly not quiet, very dodgy, make sure I really tire him out before I get on him, what was I getting another horse for etc. etc. etc.

It was really very upsetting and un-nerving for me who has an anxiety disorder anyway.

So I just stopped telling people about him and now I am just keeping him under wraps and working away quietly until he is ready to take out....a gleaming black gem.

Then we'll show them. I certainly wasn't going to tire him out before I got on him. What a great way to teach a horse how unpleasant training and riding could be for him.

I noticed you have changed locations. What an absolutely fabulous property. I hope things work out really well for you there and you are really happy and can keep helping even more horses and people.

I just wish I lived closer and could come for lessons with you in that fantastic indoor arena.

Looking forward to hearing from you....but don't feel under pressure to respond as I am sure you are still busy settling in and I know only too well what that is like.

Cassandra Norman Phoebe Trindall-Norling I can honestly say that you do stand by your guarantee. I purchased a horse from you and I was not ready to have him and jumped in to quickly and you have helped me find him the home he deserves.

23/5/2017
Janet Wells I've been following this for a few months now & I think it is an absolutely fantastic service. I own & operate my own horse rescue & rehab, Ride a Rescue. I have been working with these "troubled" horses for many years & I often think to myself that I wish the owners of these "troubled" horses could realise how simple horsemanship should be & that they are the ones making it so hard. I LOVE the information offered on EQUEST for this reason. If every horse owner tapped into this service, their wouldn't be so many horses in need of being rescued, that's for sure! It's straight forward, common sense guidance. One day I might have to spoil myself & buy 1 from you, heck... what's another 1 or 2 to add to the other 15, no one would notice! ;) Thanks for making the equine community a safer place Phoebe!

23/5/2017
Phoebe Trindall-Norling is incredible. I bought Beau (Calimero) from her last year going only by photos and her recommendation on who suited me in my circumstances at the time. I knew he would be perfect for me and he is. I was so happy and confident with her judgement that I asked her to find me another that would suit my family and grandchildren when they visit...and along came Monty (Montana). He is bringing out confidence in my 12 yr old grandson which he so desperately needs in so many ways. These 2 big TB's are my best friends thanks to Phoebe.

I can not recommend her highly enough if some one is looking to buy or sell a horse. I have been in the horse industry for 20 years and have come across quiet a few shady characters. But I found Phoebe to be a very knowledgeable person and has a true love for horses. Thanks for placing my boys with their new families. Robyn Pritchard."

FELIX'S OWNER UPDATE:

Thanks for sending the paperwork for Felix. Sorry I am only just getting back to you about him.

Our bond is already cementing. He is settling in well now and really endeared himself to me yesterday when he saw me coming and came to meet me at the gate of the paddock where he and one of my old ponies were happily grazing for the afternoon.

He seemed really sad and empty when he first arrived, maybe he was just tired or the heat was troubling him ...or maybe he was just thinking "now where have I been sent" but has just settled more and more each day and is just so obliging with anything I ask of him.

The flies were really bad too and biting and seemed especially attracted to him. He was almost beside himself. I washed him with a medicated shampoo and then sprayed him with a tropical strength personal spray which didn't work and he didn't like being sprayed much either.

I then gave the Natures Botanicals fly cream a try and it worked like a charm. I used a food handling latex glove and just put a small amount on the glove and wiped it all over the glove first then all over him. Took a few dips into the pot to cover his whole body but it was quite economical and didn't evaporate of the coat. Now I put it on him first thing in the morning and it lasts all day. It seems different products deter different flies!

I had been leaving him in the round yard overnight just as a precaution and also because it had been so hot but last night we had torrential rain and cool wind so about 1:00 am I went out and put him in one of my big roomy stables with deep straw bedding.

He loved it and was so clean in the stable. Just settled down to munching on his hay straight away. He had two of my old ponies in the yard outside the stables for company and they also had access to stable next to his. When I went out in the morning he seemed quite happy and content.

Tonight I took his shoes off and he was so patient. Left his hoof on the hoof rest while I stood up to give my back a rest.
Even lifted a hoof when he thought I was wanting it picked up.

I took ages to get the shoes off ( I haven't removed shoes for years) and he just stood there dozing. So good. He must have wondered why he got so much praise while I did the job and a big hug at the end when I finally had the shoes off and the feet rasped.

He has lovely feet for a thoroughbred. Really tight little black feet.

So far he hasn't reacted to anything on the farm either and as you predicted he was absolutely fine with the duck shooting.

I am just going to take it slowly with him and hopefully get the weight back on him with just hay before I ride him.

He is getting ad lib meadow hay in nibble nets as I am trying encourage that consistent grazing and chewing which is so good for their digestive system and mental health and shouldn't hot him up.

In the afternoon he goes out to graze with one of my ponies. I don't want to give him too much access to the grass at the moment as it is mainly couch grass which can be high in Oxalic Acid isn't good for them.

I will start doing a bit of groundwork with him and just play with him until I feel his weight is OK and by then we should know each other much better too.

What a history he has! I had done a bit of detective work on the internet and had discovered his real identity (even without full access to the ASB) before your papers arrived to confirm it.

Anyway so far we are getting on beautifully together and he is so striking and imposing. I could look at his lovely head over the stable door for hours.

I'll try to give a regular update on him though Equest. It will be slow and steady progress but I'm hoping it will be a journey that both of us really enjoy.

Forgot to mention that the marks he got from the white tape have almost covered with new hair now and what a beautiful skinned horse he is.

Such a fine coat. Like satin when he is warm and then when he is a bit cool it fluffs up like the finest velvet.

To say he has only been with me for a week I think we are doing pretty well. I must admit my confidence was a bit shaken when I first saw how big he was and when I lead him he had such a huge walk but just as he is getting used to me I am getting used to him.

It is a big step up for me from ponies and at my age.

Chai McConnell...22 October 2016

"Hi Phoebe I 100% endorse your views. My ex-partner Kym and I rescued a 16-3 hand thoroughbred called Whitfied a few years ago. He had been abused. He would kick and bite and we couldn't even rug him. Feed time was a nightmare. He was insecure and acted out. But with lots of care, love and re-education, he regained his confidence and he has turned into an amazing horse and one of my best friends. Part of regaining his security and confidence involved taking him for walks like a 600kg dog. He grazes beside me and whereas previously he would bite, he now gives me gentle nudges to check in with me. I talk to him and give him scratches. I lean on him and play with his ears and I have no issues in catching him as he always trots or canters to me. Just spending time like this with your horse will do wonders for it and you."

Michelle...22 October 2016

Michelle: Beau and I often go for a walk on the lead. We just talk, cuddle and spend quiet time together. He is amazing x

Michelle...21 October 2016

Michelle: "... Around 6pm is when I usually bring Beau up and put him in his night yard, groom, rug and feed him. When he sees me coming he always comes up to meet me part way. Tonight I was running about 5mins later than usual so he just came and put himself to bed lol. He just wanders in and stands there as if to say "ok mum where's dinner". Love this big fella."

Sienna...21 October 2016

"Phoebe you do such great work. You place ponies with the love they deserve. People willing to to put the trust into them. No pony walks in and goes Yer this is the shit. I'm Kool now. Lucky your clients love them and take the time to understand them. 🙏🙏"

Jasmin...21 October 2016

"Settling in nicely my beautiful girl ❤️"

Michelle...15 October 2016

Michelle: "When Degan was going home he gives me a hug and says "thank you so much for letting me ride Beau today Nanny. I think I would like to learn to ride him - even trot and canter". I told him I was saving for another quiet one so that way we could go riding together. His reply "I bar Beau 'cause I will have known him longer". Beau was so patient with everyone today. The smaller the rider the slower he walked lol. Even the one that turned 4 decided he had to take him for a walk. Beau gets that low he's almost crawling behind him. Super super super happy, proud and in love with this horse. Thank you x x"

Brydee...10 October 2016

Brydee: She's a very special girl ☺ follows me around everywhere! The other day mum's horse didn't want to come to me when I called (he's best friends with the neighbors Shetland and didn't want to leave him haha) and Sapph ran down, rounded him up and brought him straight to me! I couldn't believe it hahah

Beth...10 October 2016

Beth: "I have a very interesting story to tell you because I know you like little updates because I know how amazing aztec is I popped my very unexperienced friend on her and my friend misjudged how much pressure she needed to try a trot, which i didnt suggest and she ended up in a canter and because i misjudged aztecs mind i thought she would run straight into the fence and hurt herself terrible i was never worried about the girl on the horse because i know aztec would never intentionally hurt even a fly, so in her full canter i jumped in front of her and she stopped dead in her tracks, of course she looked at me as in have i done something wrong ? so of course i gave her cuddles to make sure she knew how good she was, ive never trusted a horse so much and all she is is a big gentle giant...I love her so much she will be in this family forever 🙂"

Cherie...10 October 2016

Cherie: "our beautiful girl from Phoebe is just a darling , we love her so much . She's here forever too.
Thanks Phoebe

...she's just amazing, she loves us, she's so gentle and sweet".

Beth Maher...4 October 2016

Beth, re Aztec: " Where my happiness lies...
I love her so much!!!! Friends even love her...

...never trusted a horse more than I trust my giant baby.

Michelle...9 October 2016

Michelle: ...A friend got him for me.  He's that quiet all my grandkids have been on him.  He plods along so slow and if he's saddled up with no-one on him he'll stand where ever he is left and doesn't move not even to graze.  Big gentle giant."

Michelle...1 October 2016

Michelle: "Beau is just so gentle and slow around the kids. My 12yr old grandson likes horses but is very wary of them. He was leading Beau around and looking a bit nervous. Beau lowered his head even more than usual and rested it against Degan's arm as if to say it was ok and you could see with each step Degan relaxed with him. He has never wanted to get on a horse but said next time he might try just sitting on Beau. You never know, maybe Beau will give him confidence to ride. :) x"

Lisa, (re:Jarvis)...28 Sept 2016

Lisa: "She's going to love it at mums! And we all already love her. She had to walk 2.5km last night when she got off the truck. She did so well. Dogs barking, horses whinnying and cars going past and she was such a trooper :)"

John & Glenda...26 Sept 2016

"My Caesar came from Phoebe & he's a sweetie...will for sure be a returning customer at some stage Xx"

Michelle...26 Sept 2016

Michelle: "Such a windy windy day today. Beau spent about 6 hours out grazing and enjoying freedom. He even went down to the dam to drink and splash in lol...
Then this afternoon we had about a 3/4 hr ride and he was even better than yesterday even though it was blowing crazy."

Michelle...24 Sept 2016
I did it ... I must have been a sight trying to climb up lol. Even with my stirrup leather right down I still had to climb. I'm such a short arse hehe. Awesome awesome awesome. To be able to ride on a horse and actually have to push him to walk rather than on a pony that only believes in full steam ahead or instant halt. I rode around his 1/4 acre yard for about 1/2 hour then decided to go out in the open 10acres. He picked up pace a bit there with so much new stuff to see but was still good. He is now enjoying the afternoon grazing out there. My beautiful boy. Thanks Phoebe x

Sienna... 19 Sept 2016
...Phoebe Trindall-Norling. You're an honest woman. I had nothing but honesty the time I met you. You pointed me in the right direction. For what was suitable for us. I know I'll come see you when I'm ready for one for me.

Katherine...19 Sept 2016

...No wonder you guys have become so popular. Misty is just a dream. So glad I found you

Brydee... 11 Sept 2016

Brydee: "Just a quick update on Miss Sapph hehe she's going so well! Today was our first time riding tackless and she was amazing as usual 💖 ..."

Danielle...9 Sept 2016

Romeo/ Jupiter ...My boy is very careful and gentle when kids gather around him. Danielle in Townsville.

Beth...12th August 2016

Shes the perfect horse for being scared of buying her sight unseen I'm glad I did so I didn't lose my chance with the beautiful horse 😊 so worth it, everything you said she was and more 😊

Amy...15th August 2016

'Ari is doing well! Fast learner, adapts to his rider, if he's confused by the beginner rider he slows and stops. Responsive enough for me and tries so hard to please that I love teaching him. Will make a great little pony club mount later I think.
....
He's very much loved still and doing well!

Di...13th July 2016

Love this horse, his name is Sandiago.  He is an almost 17hh Thoroughbred gelding I purchased from Queensland a couple of months ago.
So far he has lived up to his reputation of being an absolute gentle giant...he's a total spunk & very popular with our students & visitors.

Might be time to think about getting back in the saddle soon and test "driving" this beauty.

Danielle...25 July 2016

"Look at this beautiful big boy! 😍 He's super sweaty after our ride this arvo...Meet Jupiter.

This is my boy Romeo renamed Jupiter. He is an absolute delight. I have a friend riding him mid week as she I between horses atm.
Everyone who meets him loves him!"

Di...27th July 2016

Thanks to Phoebe Trindall-Norling for selling another lovely horse to one of my clients today. You have made this young lady very happy indeed 😊
Now to meet her when she arrives this week 🐴

👏

Di Holden...29th April 2016

"New addition to our family has arrived safely from Queensland just now .. Cruised off the truck , had a lovely roll in the dirt just to alter his gleaming black coat, had a Drink @ the bar , now chowing down on lunch ... Happy days !!
Thanks to Phoebe Trindall-Norling for once again, delivering a horse in good condition & exactly as described"

Di Holden...20th April 2016

Just want to say a big thank you to Phoebe Trindall-Norling for her honest description of a young mare that I purchased in September 2015.
Being based in Sydney & being busy with running my own business I didn't have
time to view the mare.
It's always a risk purchasing a horse sight unseen but this young mare arrived in excellent condition, as described in the advertisement and was everything I had hoped for.

She has settled into the riding school beautifully & we are looking forward to getting her out to dressage competitions this year .

I would recommend phoebe to anyone looking to purchase a horse!
